Vincent Willem van Gogh (March 30, 1853, –July 29, 1890) was a Dutch Post Imressionist painter. His art includes some of the world's best known, best-loved and most expensive pieces.
Van Gogh called this painting "the lightning conductor for my illness", because he felt that he could keep himself from going insane by continuing to paint.
Vincent Van Gogh painted "Irises" in 1889, the year before his death. He was staying at the asylum at Saint Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France and painted "Irises" before his first attack at the asylum.
Like many of his works, "Irises" was influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The similarities include strong outlines, unusual angles and flattish colors that do not reflect the actual fall of light.
Our art dresses are printed by hand in limited quantities using long lasting non toxic "watercolor technique" dyes on a wax press. Soft and durable 35/65 cotton-poly blend. Shipped brand new in poly bag. This dress will not shrink. To preserve the colors we recommend hand wash or machine wash on gentle setting, hang to dry.
